1. What are the system requirements for the RAD-Series RADIUS Server?

To install and use the software, the system should meet the following recommended specification::

  • One of the listed versions (or higher) of a supported operating system:
    • Red Hat Distributed Linux 7.2, 7.3, and 8.0. Also Red Hat Entperprise Linux ES Release 3 and 4 on Intel hardware
    • Sun Solaris 8, 9, and 10
  • Disk space:
    • 60 MB are required for basic installation. During operation the server generates both system and session logfiles. The disk requirements for logging depend upon the transaction rate and the frequency with which the logs are backed up and purged from the system.
  • CPU speed:
    • The server is regularly tested on systems as slow as 166 MHz. The speed needed depends on the transaction rate and the authentication type.
  • Memory:
    • The memory required is dependent upon both the transaction rate and the number of active sessions being managed. The server is regularly tested on systems with as little as 64 MB of memory although Interlink Networks recommends at least 128 MB.

2. With which NAS vendors does the RAD-Series RADIUS Server interoperate?

The RAD-Series RADIUS Server should work with any RADIUS RFC compliant NAS. RAD-Series RADIUS Servers are being used successfully in configurations with NAS's from a braod range of vendors including the following:

  • Ascend/Lucent
  • Avail
  • Bay Networks
  • Cisco
  • Computone
